NEW ULM — Waldine Guth, 88, of New Ulm died Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Waldine is survived by her husband of 69 years, Elwood Guth of New Ulm; sons, Keven (Laneta) Guth of Hutchinson, Brian Guth of Jordan, Brad Guth (Kathy Brothers) of Hudson, Wisconsin, Jeff (Lori) Guth of New Ulm; grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, Zack, and Blake Guth; great-grandson, Jacob Guth; brothers-in-law, Orville (Patt) Guth of Caledonia, David Haber of Chicago, Illinois; a niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Waldine Marie Schmit, the daughter of Frank and Lilly (Erp) Schmit was born on April 22, 1929 in Pierre, South Dakota. They moved to Minnesota in 1932 and farmed in the Madelia area. She attended Rural School District #37 and Madelia High School. After graduating in 1946 she was employed by the Hardware Mutual Insurance Company in Owatonna and later by the S. Hage Lumber Company in Madelia. She was united in marriage to Elwood “Woody” Guth on March 27, 1948. After living in Mankato for a short time they moved to New Ulm where she worked as a bookkeeper at Ulrich Electric. They moved to the Guth farm in 1958. She worked in the office of Kraft Foods from 1966 to 1995. She and her husband moved to her home farm place in Linden Township in 1997 and they have spent winters in Mission, Texas since 1999. Waldine was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
