Beverly Altmann

SLEEPY EYE — Beverly Altmann age 80, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on October 17, 2017 at her daughter Lisa’s home in Sleepy Eye.

Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and will continue on Saturday from 10 until 11 am at the church.

Service will be held at the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11 am.

The clergy will be Pastor Chris Cordes.

Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Beverly Lila Marie Steinhaus was born on January 29, 1937 the daughter of Ferdinand and Lila (Streich) Steinhaus in Fairfax. She graduated from Fairfax Public High School and began working at Pietrus foods. She married Earl Altmann on April 27, 1957 at St. George Catholic Church. Together they raised their 6 children on a farm in West Newton Township. In May of 1973, they moved into Sleepy Eye and Beverly began working at the Orchid Inn where she was employed for 18 years. Bev loved spending time with her children and their families. Many hours were spent around the kitchen table playing cards, drinking iced tea and visiting. A typical day included visiting her daughter, watching her soap with her son, and 3 pm tea time with her other son and those that could join them. She also was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, flower and cat lover! She was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Tina) Altmann, Jayson Altmann, Tim (Robin) Altmann, Lisa (Barry) Hillmann, all of Sleepy Eye, Kelly (Tim Lambert) Altmann of Eden Prairie and Grant (Bridget) Altmann of Minneapolis, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren with one on the way and brother, Robert Steinhaus of Rochester, brother-in-law, Roland (Bernice) Altmann of Burien, WA and sister-in-law, Ruth (Bill) McNamara of Olivia. Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, brothers, Dallas, Delmar and Gordon, sisters, Lois and Florence.
