Ruth F. Bertrand
SLEEPY EYE — Ruth F. Bertrand age 91, of Sleepy Eye died on Feb. 22, 2017 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye. The clergy will be Msgr. John Richter. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Mondayand will continue on Tuesday from 8 to 10 am at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.

Ruth Florence Bertrand was born on July 7, 1925 in Fairfax to Fred W. and Emelia (Drusch) Schroeder. They moved to Sleepy Eye when she was 10 years old and she graduated from Sleepy Eye Public School. Ruth married Thomas A. Bertrand on Oct. 7, 1946 at St. Mary’s Rectory in Sleepy Eye. She worked at the Sleepy Eye Hospital, the ASCS Office and the Sleepy Eye Herald. Ruth was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, CCW, Qui Vive Club and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, reading, traveling, especially to Europe. She loved going to coffee at Hardees with her friends.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Judy (Dick) Collard of Mankato; four grandchildren: Stacy Curl, Chad Bertrand, Tiffany Hoffmann and Laura Harrington, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tom in 1995, 2 infant daughters, son Jim in 2006, great grandson, Benjamin Curl, two sisters and a brother.
