Edward ‘Ed’ Clark

NEW?ULM – Edward “Ed” Clark, 76 of New Ulm, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Woodstone Living Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm with Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Following the service there will be military rites performed by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Ed is survived by a daughter, Laurie (Ken) Kohn of New Ulm; grandchildren, Matthew (Angela) Saporito of Fort Worth, Texas; Brody Kohn of New Ulm; great-grandchild, Kash Thomas Saporito; a sister, Shirley (Roger) Ladd of Modesto, California; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Marty) Moran of Riverbank, California, Tracy Ladd of Modesto, California, Shelly (Kurt) Foster of Sonora, California, Anthony (Candi) Verplanck of Colorado, Allen Verplanck of Colorado, Wally (Mary) Verplanck of Sonora, California; and by many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Diana.

Ed was born on May 17, 1938 in Oakland, California to Edward and Virgina (Disalvo) Verplanck. He graduated from the Modesto High School in Modesto, California. Ed was a veteran and had served for eight years in the United States Navy. One of his favorite things to do was cook. He was the private chef for the Jesuit Society Priesthood at the Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California for most of his working career. He moved to New Ulm in 2011. Ed loved to travel with his wife and to spend time with his grandchildren.
