New Ulm Police
• Received a report of a two-vehicle crash without injuries at 5th North and Broadway at 11:18 a.m. Aug. 6. A 2016 Kia driven by Stanley Bastian, New Ulm was northbound on Broadway when it was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet driven by Tatiana Kuchkova, 16, New Ulm, who was eastbound on 5th North, tried to turn left, northbound on Broadway. The KIA had minor right side damage. Both vehicles had minor right front damage.
• Received a report of a possible fire along the 38000 block of 870th avenue, five miles north of Bird Island at 8:11 p.m. Aug. 6. Firefighters learned the fire began in a vehicle inside a shed owned by Bradley and Naomi Jansen. It appeared the vehicle was attached to a battery charger that was assumed to be the fire origin. The vehicle was a total loss. Another vehicle in the shed had minor fire damage. The shed and equipment inside had smoke and water damage. Assisting were the Bird Island and Olivia Fire Departments, the Bird Island Medical Response Unit, Olivia Ambulance Service and the Renville County Sheriff’s Office.
