New Ulm Police
• Received a report of a two-vehicle crash without injuries on slushy roads on the 600 block of 5th North Street at 3:31 p.m. Jan. 2. A 2014 Jeep driven by Rita Lemay, 48, New Ulm, was eastbound, trying to turn left, in the alley between Broadway and State Street when it was rear-ended by a 2010 Mazda driven by Matthew Lindberg, 24, New Ulm. Damage was moderate to both vehicles.
• Received a report of a two-vehicle crash with minor injuries at the 7th North Street on-ramp to Highways 14/15. A 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Itzel Arely Marquez-Mendoza, 23, Gibbon, was yielding to traffic, trying to merge onto the highway when she was rear-ended by a 1999 Mazda Protege driven by Terry J. Lusignan, 53, Le Sueur. Damage was minor to the rear of the Ford and severe to the front end of the Mazda. Lusignan had a minor cut to his right hand.
Redwood County Sheriff’s Office
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without injuries in Morgan at the intersection of Third and Fergus at 11:49 a.m. Jan. 2. A 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Leonard Malecek, 79, Redwood Falls, collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Tristen Durant, 19, Morton. Damage was severe to both vehicles.
• Received a report of a fire on the 10000 block of 822nd Avenue, about six miles southwest of Sacred Heart, in Hawk Creek Township, at 6:04 a.m. Jan. 2. A shed owned by David and Darlene Yeager was destroyed. No other buildings were damaged. Nobody was injured. The fire cause is not yet known. Granite Falls and Sacred Heart Fire Departments assisted.
