Despite the snow, ice and cold, the New Ulm Narren captured Mayor Bob Beussman at City Hall, dressed him in rags and paraded him around town Friday to kick off the Fasching celebration in New Ulm. Events continue today with  a Narren program at the New Ulm Public Library at 9:30 a.m. A downtown parade begins at 11:11 a.m. today. Afternoon events continue from  noon to 4 p.m. at Harman Park. The Concord Singers will host the German Mardi Gras from  1 to 7 p.m. with music by Brian Brueggen & the Minnesota Valley Dutchmen and the Concord Singers at The Best Western Plus. The Parade of Costumes begins at 7 p.m.
