Give Kids a Smile Free Dental Care

MANKATO — Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Dental Hygiene Department joins a statewide effort to provide free dental care to area children on Thursday, Jan. 31, and Friday, Feb. 1.

Concerned about the growing number of children who are unable to access needed dental care, Minnesota State University’s Dental Hygiene Department will provide free dental care to children on Jan. 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The dental clinic is located on the campus of Minnesota State University in the Clinical Sciences Building. People interested in scheduling an appointment may call the dental clinic at 507-389-2147.

Patients seeking appointments for cleanings, x-rays, exams, and sealants should be under the age of 18 and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Turner Hall to hold Rib Feast Feb. 28

NEW ULM — Turner Hall is hosting its 4th annual Rib Feast on Thursday, Feb. 28. This fundraiser supports the historic preservation of Turner Hall and helps to maintain the building for the community to enjoy.

Tickets are $22 and includes Turner’s famous ribs, baked potato, coleslaw and dessert. Drive-Thru take out begins at 3 p.m. and dine-in is available 4:30-7 p.m. This fun evening features live music and drink specials. Tickets available at Turner Hall, The Chamber or by calling 354-2022.

Community Ed trip for ‘Dear Evan Hansen’

NEW ULM — District 88 Community Education is hosting a bus trip to see “Dear Evan Hansen” at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis on Saturday, June 8, for the 2 p.m. show.

People are asked to register as soon as possible.

The fee for the charter bus and ticket is $100. The bus will leave at 11:30 a.m. from the New Ulm Middle School Parking Lot on South Garden Street.

“Dear Evan Hansen” is the deeply personal contemporary musical about life and the way we live it. “One of the most remarkable shows in musical theater history,” says The Washington Post. The New York Timescalls Dear Evan Hansen “a gut-punching, breathtaking knockout of a musical” and NBC News says that the musical is “an inspiring anthem resonating on Broadway and beyond.”
