Big Ideas offering classes in 2019

NEW ULM — Big Ideas is a non-profit organization located in New Ulm working to expose anyone ages 13-113 to the value of skilled trades and, through hands-on Community Education Classes, the sense of accomplishment that is attained from a job well done.

The goal of Big Ideas is to provide opportunities to discover, explore, and learn real-world skills used in trades such as welding, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, commercial sewing, commercial baking, mechatronics, auto mechanics, and machining. If there is a trade not listed in which you are interested, please call us!

Anyone who wants to try a new job without quitting their current one, youth trying to decide what to do as a career, and those of all ages who are interested in a new hobby – Big Ideas provides a low risk, low cost way to learn a new, marketable skill.

2019 Classes are now open for enrollment in Carpentry, Welding, Upholstery, Sewing, and Electrical.

Free Community Breakfast Saturday

NEW ULM — A Free Community Breakfast is being held Saturday, Dec. 29 at First United Methodist Church on the corner of Center and Broadway in New Ulm. Come from 8 to 10 a.m. for pancakes, eggs, sausage, and coffee. Bring family, friends, and the grandkids. All are welcome.

Adult Winter Reading Program at Library

Those aged 16 and older are invited to participate in the free Adult Winter Reading Program at New Ulm Public Library from Wednesday, January 2 through Friday, March 1. This year’s program is “Book Bingo.” Participants can pick up a Bingo card at the library, read books to reach Bingo, and return their card to the library. Your first Bingo card earns you a free book and a chance to win one of two $25 Chamber Bucks certificates, donated by the Friends of the New Ulm Public Library.
