Courtland Lions Breakfast Sunday
COURTLAND — The Courtland Lions will host its annual spring Pancake, Egg, and Sausage breakfast on Sunday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is held at the Courtland Community Center at 300 Railroad Street in Courtland. The meal includes coffee, juice, applesauce, and salsa, as well as the pancakes, eggs, and sausage.
Cost is $8 per adult; $5 for children 5 to 12; Free for children under the age of 5.
The Lions will collect used eye glasses and hearing aids at this event. Please bring a food item for the local Food Shelf as well
A portion of the profits goes towards maintaining the Courtland American Flags and the local Food Shelf.
CROP Walk on Sunday at German Park
NEW ULM — The Brown County Area CROP Walk will be held on Sunday, May 6, starting place from the German Park Pavilion (200 N. German St.) and following the bike trail to the Brown County Food Shelf and back. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the walk begins at 1 p.m.
Church World Service (CWS) is the sponsoring organization. It is a cooperative, ecumenical ministry that provides assistance for hunger and poverty, water source development, disaster relief, and education in gardening and farming in the U.S. and throughout the world. 75 percent of monies raised go through CWS to the areas most needed and 25 percent to our local food shelf. Several local churches are involved in the planning of this community event and all are welcome.
Cook piano recital at MLC Friday
NEW ULM — Hannah Cook, a piano student of Dr. Bethel Balge, will hold a recital on Friday, May 4, starting at 8 p.m. It will take place in the Chapel of the Christ on the Martin Luther College campus.
There will be a variety of solo pieces performed, including works by Beethoven, MacDowell, Grieg, and Chopin. Cook will also be performing a duet by Dvorak with Dr. Balge. All are invited to attend.
MLC piano recitals Thursday
NEW ULM — Martin Luther College’s top piano students are presenting a recital Thursday, May 3, at 8 p.m. in the MLC Music Center Choir room. They will perform works by Debussy, Schubert, Dvorak, Borodin, Ravel, and MacDowell.
