McFundraiser for First Choice

Pregnancy Services Wednesday, Aug. 9

NEW ULM — First Choice Pregnancy Services will hold a McFundraiser on Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m., at McDonald’s in New Ulm. A portion of the sales during that time will be donated to First Choice Pregnancy Services.

First Choice Pregnancy Services’ volunteers will be at McDonald’s to share in the fun, clear tables, and to answer questions.

First Choice Pregnancy Services is a non-profit organization that provides many valuable services to women before, during, and after pregnancy, including pregnancy testing, limited ultrasounds, lay counseling, emergency supplies of diapers and formula, pregnancy and parenting education, Daddy Boot Camp, opportunities for earning baby items, information, and professional referrals. All services are provided free of charge, so FCPS is dependent upon income provided by fundraising, grants, and private donations.

Produce Tuesday on Aug. 8

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Area Emergency Food Shelf & Second Harvest Food Bank is offering produce, fruit, bakery items and potatoes, if available, on Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1305 South Valley Street, New Ulm. Registration starts at 1:30 p.m. Bring your own bags or boxes. With the goal that no one goes hungry, this distribution is open to anyone who needs help.

The food provided during “Produce Tuesday” is brought from Second Harvest the same day. No food donated for the New Ulm Food Shelf’s normal operations is used for this distribution.

Concert in Winthrop on Aug. 10

WINTHROP — On Thursday August 10 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the Winthrop Lions and Winthrop Chamber will sponsor The Basics in the Winthrop City Park.

The five-member group plays bluegrass, county gospel and Christian music.

This is the last performance in the Winthrop summer music series. Refreshments will be available and door prizes awarded courtesy of the businesses of Winthrop. Bring your lawn chairs and come join us for an evening of fun.

Music funded in part by a grant from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council with funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislatuure. In case of rain concerts are held at Hahn’s Dining and Lounge in downtown Winthrop.

Library hosts bus tour to

Minneopa State Park

NEW ULM — New Ulm Public Library is hosting a bus tour to Minneopa State Park on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The tour will be led by Minneopa Area DNR Naturalist Scott Kudelka and Riverside History and Nature Learning Center Curator Ron Bolduan. Tour stops will include Minneopa Falls, Seppmann Mill, and the Minneopa Bison Range. Participants must provide their own lunch. All ages are welcome.
