Monday Concert in German Park

NEW ULM — New Ulm Public Library presents Concert in the Park: The Porchlights on Monday, June 19 at 7 p.m. in German Park. Come down to the park and enjoy an evening of acoustic rock and blues music.

This program is co-sponsored by KNUJ and New Ulm Park & Rec. This project is made possible by a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative and was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

CUF scholarships

NEW ULM — Catholic United Financial has presented financial scholarship awards to several local students who are headed to college or trade school.

Lee Webster, Mckenna Berdan, Anna Mohr, Daniel Lindquist, Elias Berdan, Zachary Rhode, Rachel Guggisberg, Bailey Landreville, Kasey Kuck, Cole Wellmann and Benjamin Schumacher, all of New Ulm.

Since 1955, Catholic United Financial has supported more than 4,000 of its members with scholarships to help defray the costs of tuition and expenses of post-high school education. In 2017, the association awarded more than $200,000, the most scholarship dollars given in a single year.

Alice Lind Play Reading Society

NEW ULM — The Society will meet at the Lind House at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 to read “Sunrise at Campobello,” a play in three acts detailing Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s initial struggle with poliomyelitis.

FDR overcomes personal challenges with his health and his family, especially his domineering mother, who has a penchant for dissing just about every character in the play. Eleanor also faces challenges as she tries to juggle her family obligations with his political ambitions.

The reading is free and open to the public.

Crusin’ Pine & 99 in Nicollet

NICOLLET — If you have a classic car, truck, motorcycle, or specialty vehicle, plan to bring them to Cruisin’ on Pine and 99. This classic roll-in is coming to Nicollet starting at 5 p.m. tonight, Thursday, June 15, and will happen every other Thursday through Oct. 5, rain or shine.

Event t-shirts will be available for purchase at the registration tent for $15. When you arrive be sure to register your car at the registration tent that will be located on Pine Street near Rapid Rick’s Bar and Grill. Our event sponsor for the evening will also be located on Pine Street across from the registration table.
