Moss grows on the south side of trees in the swollen Minnesota River, east of 3rd North Street Monday. The river was observed at 804.7 feet at 9:45 a.m. Monday in New Ulm. Moderate flooding is occurring and is forecast. The river will continue rising to near 805 feet by early Thursday afternoon, then begin falling, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Advanced Hydrological Prediction Service. Flood stage is 800 feet. The Cottonwood River was observed at 11.85 at 2 p.m. Monday in New Ulm. Flood stage is 11 feet. The river is forecast to drop below 11 feet Friday morning.
