Nicollet County Commissioners OK CHIPS Legal Services Contracts

NICOLLET COUNTY — Nicollet County Commissioners unanimously approved Legal Services Contracts for CHIPS (children in need of protective services) Nov. 13.

County Administrator Ryan Krosch said the county is required to provide legal services for the parents of children in need of protective services (CHIPS). He said attorney Tom Hagen ended his contract for the services Oct. 1.

The court administrator, sheriff and probation director interviewed replacements for Hagen and recommended the county contract with attorney Lisa Chesley for the services. The action requested is to approve contracts with attorneys Elizabeth Weinandt and Chris Grean for 2019. They currently contact with them for CHIPS cases. In addition, Nicollet County will contract with Chesley from Nov. 13 through 2019.

Weinandt and Chesley will be compensated $2,000 a month. Grean is paid $90 an hour for conflict cases. Action came on a motion by Commissioner Stenson, seconded by Commissioner Kemp.

Commissioners unanimously approved River View Sanitation to do rural recycling service for Courtland, Klossner, Lafayette and St. George at $125 per pull per location. River View submitted a bid lower than Waste Management. The current cost per pull per location is $95.
