Braulick, Nienhaus win poultry shows

NEW ULM — Sleepy Eye High School students Maranda Braulick and Martina Nienhaus won the 4-H and FFA Open Class Poultry Shows at the Brown County Fair Aug. 10.

Braulick finished first among several dozen competitors with a Gold Star chicken in her first year of 4-H competition.

“They’re really easy and their eggs give a good profit,” Braulick said about her bird.

Nienhaus said she’s been showing poultry for eight years. She is also active in 4-H, volleyball, softball and enjoys riding horses and fishing.

Braulick received the Champion Chicken and Champion Overall Poultry awards. Nolan Gag showed the Reserve Champion Chicken, Reserve Champion Overall Poultry and was Champion Senior Showperson. Nienhaus was Champion Junior Showperson. Brooke Jensen was Reserve Champion Junior Showperson.

Piper Mangen received the Champion Duck award. Dalton Langseth had the Reserve Champion Duck and was Reserve Champion International Showperson.

Tyler Ibberson got the Champion Pigeon and Reserve Champion Pigeon Awards. Abigail Jensen was Reserve Champion Senior Showperson. Winston Nienhaus was Champion International Showperson.
