Candidate helps clean up
SPRINGFIELD — On Monday, clean up efforts in Springfield began in Riverside Park and Rothesburg Campground, damaged by recent flooding.
Volunteers worked by picking up sticks, garbage out of the fences, raking grass and shoveling gravel and anything deposited by the flood.
The Springfield community was joined in the clean up by DFL congressional candidate Dan Feehan and 10 members of his team.
Less than two weeks ago, Riverside Park was completely underwater. On July 4, the park was clear but in a few hours the Cottonwood River rose rapidly and covered the area. Homes and apartments were evacuated as a result of the flooding.
