First annual Family Festival Benefit to be held June 17

NEW ULM — New Ulm residents looking forward to summer can now also look forward to an outdoor family music festival and enjoy the sun for a good cause.

On June 17 the first annual Bliss Stock Family Festival will be hosted on the Turner Hall lawn.

“Bliss Stock was created by a group of friends and family of Bliss (Eden) Kalk,” said Dan Kalk, the event’s director. “Bliss was diagnosed with stage IV breast and liver cancer in October 2017 and it was obvious at that point that something needed to be done to help raise funds and support her and her family. The festival is on Father’s Day, so chances are you will be with your family already, we just hope that families plan to spend some of their day enjoying this event for a great cause!”

The event will feature local musicians all day, starting at noon and finishing off with Church of Cash as the headliner that evening. Other events will include face painting, balloon sculptures, bounce house, horse and carriage rides, interactive learning, wine pull, silent auction and a live auction at 5:30 p.m., and tons mor Food and drink will be available from Turner Hall and Schell’s.

“This is a fundraiser for Bliss this year, but we hope to make this an annual event for future causes in our community.” Kalk continued, “We are so appreciative at how involved local businesses, organizations and individuals are coming out to participate and help to make this event great!”

Any person or business that would like to donate an item to the silent auction can email organizers at blissstock2018@gmail.com. Donations are being run through the Sertoma Club of New Ulm and are tax deductible.
