Spring has sprung

As snow melts, the Minnesota River continues to rise. The temperature reached 44 degrees March 27. It is forecast to reach 47 degrees March 28. The Cottonwood River at New Ulm reached 9.98 feet March 23, surpassing the nine foot action stage. The Cottonwood was observed at 7.75 feet at 3 p.m. March 27. Flood stage is 11 feet. The Cottonwood is forecast to reach 9.7 feet at 4 p.m. April 1, according to the National Weather Service Advanced Hydrological Prediction Service. Staff photos by Fritz Busch
