NEW ULM — MRCI donated a $1,000 check to the Wild Bunch Special Olympics Thursday evening.

The donations will be used to support Special Olympics athletes through the purchase of equipment, practice space and travel expenditures. The athletes compete in basketball, softball, bowling and track and field events.

Wild Bunch board member and coach Mary Nachreiner said every year there were between 70 and 90 participants on the roster from the New Ulm area. The age of participants ranges from 9 to 70.

Coach Bryce Boelter said with recents scheduling changes this year the Wild Bunch would be able to partner with more local community groups, which has proven to be exciting for all involved.
