NEW ULM — Anne Earl, a Brown County Historical Society Board Member, was surprised Thursday night with a plaque and proclamation from Mayor Bob Beussman declaring it Anne Earl Day for her work with the historical society.

The presentation was made at the Historical Society’s annual meeting at the Best Western Plus in New Ulm.

Earl is a past president of the Brown County Historical Society Board, chair of the Heritage Preservation Commission, past member of the Wanda Gag House Board, State Street Theater Board and Turner Hall Board of Director, but Thursday night she was honored for her work in helping the Historical Society pay for its new roof, improved HVAC system, interior restoration and exhibits.

Earl was responsible for coordinating all the building projects with engineers and contractors and writing grants to secure funding for the Minnesota Legacy Grants.

Earl humbly accepted the proclamation and said the roof work was made possible through the work of several people and thanked all that assisted her on the project.
