Mayo Clinic Health System offers flu vaccine clinics

SPRINGFIELD — The most effective way to stop the spread of influenza is to receive an influenza vaccination. Mayo Clinic Health System in Springfield is offering the seasonal flu vaccine.

Mayo Clinic Health System is offering public flu clinics during the following dates and times:

Springfield

• Friday, Sept. 29, 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 10, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

• Thursday, Oct. 19, 7 a.m.-1 p.m.

Lamberton

• Monday, Oct. 16, 1:30-5:30 p.m.

People interested in getting their flu shot at these clinics are encouraged to call and schedule an appointment to ensure a quick and convenient experience. To schedule an appointment for a flu shot, call 877-412-7575 (toll-free). Walk-ins are also welcome.

Influenza is a potentially dangerous illness and results in about 40,000 deaths each year. It can cause high fevers in children, complications in those with cardiac issues and can even lead to pneumonia.

Mayo Clinic Health System recommends that people ages 6 months and older have an influenza vaccination. Certain insurance companies may cover the price of the flu vaccine.
