Sheep show well at fair

Staff photo by Clay Schuldt Andrew Hellendrung shows his sheep Jessica Rabbit during the 4-H show. He would go on to win the Champion Exhibit ribbon.

NEW ULM — The Brown County FFA and 4-H Sheep Show was held Thursday morning at the fairgrounds.

The sheep had a strong showing in the various classes. Judge Zach Post said he was confident in the program’s future. All of the young people exhibiting sheep this year were excited to be involved and were interested in returning next year.

In the FFA show, 17-year-old Tyson Meidl won the Best in Show with his sheep “Charlie.” Meidl said he has been raising sheep all his life. It’s hard work but he enjoys working with the animals.

In the 4-H show, 12-year-old Andrew Hellendrung won the Champion Exhibit ribbon for his ewe with the unusual name Jessica Rabbit.

This is only Hellendrung’s second year exhibiting sheep at the fair.
