National Night Out/Concert in German Park Monday, July 31, 2017, 7 p.m. Entertainment by the Schell’s Hobo Band, along with FREE children’s games, activities, food and more! This event is being sponsored by the New Ulm Public, Park and Rec and Fire Departments and the United Way.

Munchkin Mayhem is a program for ages 3-5 years old that will use structured and unstructured play to stimulate your little munchkin through movement, games, activities, and much more. This program will meet at the Harman Park Shelter Wednesday evenings Aug. 2-23 from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Parents or guardians are encouraged to participate. Fee: $16 Residents and $17.60 Non-residents.

Our Own Wizard of Oz: Back to Munchkin Land is co-sponsored by Park & Rec. and State Street Theatre Co. Keeping in the tradition of State Street Theater, this one week workshop allows kids the opportunity to experience the many roles of a theater production. Participants will enjoy hands on activities in set construction and costuming, as well as many roles needed to produce a show. Participants will practice being the director, producer, stage manager and actor. The end product of the week will be a performance of Our Own Wizard of Oz: Back to Munchkin Land. Camp is Monday-Friday Aug. 7-11 from 1-4 p.m. with the performance Friday, Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Camp cost is $50 for Residents and $55 for Non-residents.

Hermann Swim Club for ages 8-17 Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. Aug. 8-24. This is a recreational swim club that focuses on training swimmers and improving their swim strokes, build muscle, speed, strength and improve endurance. Fee: $37 Resident or $40.70/non-resident.

Wow! Zone in Mankato Day Trip available to individuals age 8 and up Friday, Aug. 11. Bowl, play mini golf and laser tag for a fun-filled afternoon! Van departs from the Rec Center at 12 and returns at 4 p.m. Fee: $19 Resident or $20.90 Non-resident. Transportation and admission included in price.

Get to Know Nature: Bird Ecology- Discover the different parts of a bird, why they are important and how they get along in nature. Different bird species will be discussed. Tuesday, Aug. 15 from 1-2 p.m. at Flandrau State Park (Meet at the playground next to the swimming pond.) Fee: $5 Resident or $5.50 Non-resident.

Summer Day of Play Thursday, Aug. 17 at German Park starting at 6 p.m. Variety of activities in a fun, festive atmosphere! This event is FREE and open to the public, thanks to the generous donations of our local businesses and service organizations. The evening will be capped off by an outdoor Move: Secret Life of Pets at approximately 8 p.m.

Co-Rec Adult Fall Softball League will run from the first week in September to Mid-October. League fee is only $90 per team, with registration available at the Recreation Center or by calling 507-359-8343.

Hermann Heights Monument open daily from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., except for during inclement weather conditions. There will be a full moon over Hermann on Saturday, Aug. 5 where Hermann will be open until 10 p.m. for those wanting an extraordinary view of the MN River Valley under a full moon! Regular admission rates apply.

Autumn Park and Rec Registration opens Monday, Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. The brochure will be distributed in the New Ulm Journal on Sunday, Aug. 6 and the Shopper on Aug. 8. Be sure to check out the offerings!

Thank you Allina Health for the FREE Adult/Child Yoga in neighborhood Parks. Your Neighborhood Health Connection Grant allowed us to offer this program FREE each Saturday this summer in various parks in New Ulm. The program concluded Saturday, July 29!
