Le Center man gets stay in prostitution case

NEW ULM — A 24-year-old Le Center man who was one of four men charged in an October 2015 prostitution sting at a New Ulm motel, received a stay of imposition in Brown County District Court Tuesday.

Mario Arroyo was convicted of felony prostitution-actor hires or agrees to hire person under age 18. Successful probation completion will result in a misdemeanor conviction. A hire to engage prostitution in a public place charge was dismissed.

Arroyo was sentenced to 90 days in the Brown County Jail, to be served in three separate segments. He was credited with nine days served, fined $1,085 and placed on three years Supervised probation, monitored by the Minnesota Department of Corrections.

Conditions include successfully completing outpatient chemical dependency treatment, follow all recommendations and aftercare; no mood-altering chemicals including alcohol, except an approved prescribed medication. He must no use or possess firearms, ammunition or explosives, not register to vote or vote until discharged from probation.

According to court documents, four men arrived at a hotel after texting and calling an undercover female police officer for an agreed-upon price. The other three men were Sambo Min, 51, Bothell, Washington; John Douchette, 55, Madelia; and Sasenarine Ghamandy, 42, Prior Lake.
