Former Ulm, Germany, mayor dies
ULM, Germany — The former mayor of Ulm, Germany, Ernst Ludwig died on May 24, 2017, at the age of 90, according to a press release.
More than 400 people came to his Mass, taking leave of him. The funeral service was very emotional and took one and one-half hours.
The highlight was the motet choir of the cathedral Kantorei choir, which intoned Johann Sebastian Bach, the famous German composer.
A famous bell called “Schwörglocke” (Oath Bell) was pulled. It is usually just used on a day called “Schwörmöntag” (Oath Monday), if the Lord Mayor dies, or if an installation takes place. Ludwig loved the sound of the bell.
