Winthrop man gets stay in sex case

GAYLORD — A 39-year-old Winthrop man received a stay of adjudication after pleading guilty to a fourth-degree criminal sex charge in Sibley County District Court Tuesday.

Kyle N. Grams, 720 5th St. W., was charged with two felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with allegations he abused a 15-year-old girl he knew. The charge he pled guilty to will be dismissed if he successfully completes five years of supervised probation, monitored by the Minnesota Department of Corrections.

Another third-degree criminal sex charge was dismissed. He was fined $135 and sentenced to 90 days in the Sibley County Jail, to serve on Work Release or Sentence to Serve, if eligible. He was credited with three days served and ordered to report within 30 days.

Probation conditions include no unsupervised contact with persons under age 18, no unsupervised one-on-one contact with minor females, no possession of alcohol or drugs until treatment is successfully completed, no contact with the victim or family and restitution reserved for 30 days.

According to court documents, on May 1 and numerous occasions within the past year in Sibley County, Grams engaged in sexual contact with a 15-year-old. He is more than 24 months older than the victim and used force or coercion.
