• John R. Gould, 48, 410 N. Van Buren Ave., Springfield, was charged with gross misdemeanor disrupt emergency telephone call/communications and misdemeanor domestic assault Feb. 23.
According to court documents, Springfield Police were dispatched to 410 N. Van Buren at 12:15 a.m Feb. 3. Police knocked on a door to the house and nobody answered. Police tried to call the complainant, Gould, who did not answer. Police were advised by dispatch that the other party involved was at the Springfield Police Dept. to report an assault.
Police took a written statement from the alleged victim who said she is in an intimate relationship with Gould, they got into an argument, he slapped her twice on the left side of her face, he took her phone from her and would not give it back when she tried to call 911. The victim said she started screaming for help and her told her to “get the f@ck out.” Police observed a small, dime-sized bruise on the left side of the woman’s neck.
Gould was transported to the Brown County Evaluation Center and placed on hold for domestic assault. On the way to New Ulm, he kicked the rear driver’s side door a few times, causing a slight outward bow at the top of the door.
