• Jeffrey L. Martindale, 54, Sioux City, Iowa, was charged with two counts of felony second-degree assault-dangerous weapon; and third-degree assault-substantial bodily harm Tuesday. According to court documents, New Ulm Police were dispatched to the B&L Bar in downtown New Ulm. At the scene, police talked with an alleged victim who was holding napkins on the top of his head and his face and head. He had a substantial amount of blood that ran down his shirt, hands and arms. Police photographed the victim and followed the victim and a friend who took him to the New Ulm Medical Center Emergency Room. Police interviewed the victim in the hospital.

The victim said he walked past the suspect, later identified as Martindale who he said bumped into him and asked him if he wanted to fight. The victim said Martindale got upset and yelled at him to go outside and settle it.

The victim said Martindale “blindsided” him and hit him in the head with some sort of beverage container, then tried to run out the door but was stopped by several people.

Martindale told police he was “knocked into” by the victim twice.

A witness told police Martindale shoved the victim into a window after the victim bumped into him. The witness said Martindale jumped over a table and hit the victim on the head with a large, metallic and plastic beer mug and ran out the door. Police talked with another witness who had much the same story.

• Adrian C. Accardi, 24, 2526 S. Bridge St., New Ulm, was charged two counts of gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI and misdemeanor no driver’s license Tuesday. According to court documents, New Ulm Police were northbound on South Bridge Street at 7:12 p.m. March 3 when their attention was drawn to a southbound vehicle on Bridge Street that appeared to be speeding.

Police activated speed detection equipment that showed the vehicle was traveling 47 mph in a 30 mph zone. Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Accardi. He admitted not having a driver’s license and failed certain field sobriety tests. He provided a breath sample for analysis at 8:01 p.m. that showen an alcohol concentration of .22 grams per 210 liters of breath.

• Nicole S. Black, 30, 102 4th St. N.E., Fairfax, was charged with gross misdemeanor DWI Tuesday. According to court documents, A Brown County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was called to a driving complaint on CR 29, just west of State Highway 4 on March 3.

According to court documents, witnesses said a vehicle was over the center and fog line and ran a stop sign at CR 29 and TH 4 and almost put the vehicle in a ditch. The deputy stopped the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Black who showed intoxication signs and failed certain field sobriety tests.

Black was arrested for DWI. The deputy got a search warrant for a blood draw after finding about 60 Clonazepam pills in Black’s purse. A blood draw was later taken at New Ulm Medical Center. After she was cleared by an emergency room doctor, Black was taken to the Brown County Evaluation Center. She was convicted of DWI 0.08 within two hours on Jan. 24, 2011 in Blue Earth County, a qualified prior impaired driving incident within the last 10 years.

• Edmund D. Jaskowiak, 30, 315 S. Park Ave., Springfield, was convicted of gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI Tuesday. Two other third-degree DWI charges, a fourth-degree DWI charge and driver must carry proof of insurance when operating vehicle charge were dismissed. He was sentenced 365 days in the Brown County Jail, 335 days stayed for three years supervised probation. Jail time to be served three separate segments. He was fined $1,015. Can get up to $300 credit for out-of-pocket treatment and assessment costs towards fine. Conditions include successful completion of outpatient chemical dependency treatment, follow all recommendations, complete DWI Impact Panel, pay fee, complete diagnostic assessment, attend AA/NA or approved weekly support group.

• Clark T. Bergeman, 28, 327 Linden, New Ulm, was convicted of gross misdemeanor second-degree DWI. Another second-degree DWI charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to 365 days in the Brown County Jail, 335 days stayed for three years supervised probation. Jail time to be served in three segments. He was fined $,1015. Conditions include successful completion of outpatient chemical dependency treatment, follow recommendations, complete DWI Impact Panel, pay fee, attend AA/NA.

• Diana E. Donnay, 30, Wentworth, S.D., was convicted of misdemeanor theft Tuesday. A contributing to delinquency of a child or status as petty offender charge was dismissed. She was sentenced to 90 days in the Brown County Jail, 75 days stayed for one year supervised probation. She was fined $260, can to STS to pay off fine, must do within one year, restitution to remain open for 30 days.

• Karl Robinson, 50, 20 1/2 E. Central St., Springfield, was charged with two counts of gross misdemeanor third-degree operate motor vehicle under influence of alcohol and 0.08 within two hours; and misdemeanor driving after suspension Wednesday. According to court documents, Springfield Police were on duty at 10:02 June 17 eastbound on Rock Street when they observed a car turn right from Jefferson Avenue onto Rock Street and identified the driver as Robinson, suspected of having a suspended license.

Police stopped the car and identified the driver as Robinson. who said he had no license. Police smelled alcohol coming from Robinson while he talked. Robinson admitted drinking about five beers after work that night. He failed certain field sobriety tests. He provided a Preliminary Breath Test sample that resulted in 0.281 blood alcohol content. Robinson was arrested for violation of MN DWI laws and transported to the Brown County Jail. He provided breath samples at the law enforcement center that rad .263, .258 and .25.

• Gilberto Hernandez, 42, 615 Walnut St. S.W., Sleepy Eye, was convicted of misdemeanor disorderly conduct Wednesday. He was sentenced to 90 days in the Brown County Jail, 87 days stayed for one year supervised probation. Can do three days STS in lieu of jail to be completed within six months. He was fined $285. Conditions include following domestic abuse assessment recommendations for previous court file.
