• Todd D. Dettmer, 43, 627 N. Broadway, New Ulm, was charged with felony receiving stolen property Friday. According to court documents, Sherburn/Welcome Police met with a woman and her husband about a burglary at their residence between Dec. 19 and Dec. 21, 2011. The man said he was away from his home when two of his stamp collection books were missing plus a watch and about $500 in cash. The total loss was estimated at $2,160.95.

A warrant was issued in connection with an on-going investigation with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to search property located at 627 N. Broadway, New Ulm. Executed on April 26, 2016, the search turned out coins and stamps in page inserts typically used by collectors. The man positively identified the stamps as those taken from his residence in 2012.

• Ryan R. Hulke, 34, 614 4th St., Nicollet, was charged with two counts of gross misdemeanor DWI and petty misdemeanor speeding Friday. According to court documents, New Ulm Police were on patrol at 12:21 a.m., Nov. 27 when they saw a vehicle moving faster than the 30 mph speed limit. Police measured the vehicle as traveling at 44 in a 30 mph zone as it approached 7th South St. and Valley.

Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Hulke. He showed intoxication signs and admitted drinking. He failed field sobriety tests including a preliminary breath test. A breath sample for analysis taken at 1:17 a.m. showed an alcohol concentration of .16 grams per 210 liters of breath.

• Eric M. Battey, 32, 2067 Winchester Way, N. Mankato, was charged with gross misdemeanor driving after cancellation Friday. According to court documents, New Ulm Police exited Kwik Trip at 1521 S. Broadway, New Ulm at 12:50 a.m., Oct. 22 when they observed a lone male pull up and park on the south side of the store. Police observed the man later identified as Battey, appeared nervous and learned his driver’s license was cancelled as inimical to public safety. Police later stopped the vehicle and Battey acknowledged his driver’s license was not valid and he was not supposed to be driving.
