Monday Night Concert in German Park on July 16 will have entertainment by The Worst Band Ever starting at 7 p.m. Bring the family early to enjoy the Puppet Wagon at 6:15 p.m. or the new Playground at any time!

Look for our new FREE Rec On the Go program traveling to a location near you to play games, sports, crafts and other fun activities! Healthy Snacks will be provided for those 18 and under. Visit our website for dates and locations. They will be making special stops this week on Wednesday at Traulich Estates from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and New Ulm Mobile Village from 12:30-2 p.m. This program is possible through partnerships with Allina Health, ISD 88, Pro Kinship for Kids and the City of New Ulm Public Library and Park and Rec Departments.

July is National Park and Rec month! We are challenging individuals to submit a digital photo discovering one of the wonderful amenities our park and rec system offers. Throughout the month of July, there will be weekly contests with a winner (chamber dollars) chosen for each category. This week’s theme is Best Action Shot. Please keep in mind that photos must be taken at City-owned parks and facilities. Official rules available online.

Youth Pickleball Camp July 17 and 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Lincoln Park. Focus on basic rules, etiquette, teamwork, movement and socialization that comes with playing. Register online or at the Rec Center.

Municipal Band Concert at German Park Wednesday, July 18 and 25 starting at 7 p.m.

Get to Know Nature and Canoeing – Scott Kudelka, DNR Naturalist will teach proper canoeing techniques and safety while exploring the beautiful Minnesota River. Class has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 17 and will meet at Minnecon Park at 1 p.m. Participants must be picked up at Eckstein Landing, near the intersection of Hwy 15 and 37 at 2 p.m. Fee is $5 Residents and $5.50 Non-residents. Pre-registration is required.

Get to Know Nature and What Lives in the MN River: Macroinvertebrates – Scott Kudelka, DNR Naturalist will teach individuals about these aquatic bugs that are found in the bottom of rivers, lakes and wetlands. Discover how they are special and where to find them. A sample will be collected, followed by a talk about why they are important to the natural environment. Tuesday, July 24 from 1-2 p.m. at Flandrau State Park Playground. Please note: Entrance to Flandrau State Park requires a pass to enter.) Register online or at the Rec Center.

Enjoy a full moon view over Hermann on Friday, July 27. We are extending our hours to 10 p.m. to take in this very unique and picturesque view of the MN River Valley under moonlight! Regular admission applies.

National Night Out will be held in German Park on Monday, July 30 from 5:30 p.m. to dusk. Musical entertainment by the Schell’s Hobo Band, children’s games and activities, food and more! This program sponsored by the New Ulm Police Department, Park and Rec and Fire Departments, along with the United Way.

Munchkin Mayhem is a camp for ages 3 to 5 that uses structured activities and unstructured play through movement, games, activities and much more. Program meets at the Harman Park Shelter Wednesdays August 1 through 22 from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Register online or the Rec Center.

Water Access Sites at Minnecon and Adams Parks closed until the water recedes. The flood waters have gone down, back inside the banks at Adams park, however there is a large mess in terms of sand and washouts and signage, as the high waters either took them away or pushed over. Adams Park will remain closed until clean up and repairs are completed.

The Puppet Wagon is a summertime favorite for all ages. Puppeteers entertain through skits, songs and silly dances. Each show is 20-30 minutes. Shows are canceled for inclement weather. Check out our website for show times and locations.

Open Pickleball at Rec Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-2:30 p.m. and Saturdays through May from 8-10 a.m. Memberships, Punch cards, cards or Daily Admission apply.

Outdoor Pickleball available at Lincoln Park! Open play is scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. There is a lock box in Lincoln Park with equipment to use. Please call 507-359-8347 for the code to access.
