The Park and Rec. Department Staff extend our warmest wishes for a wonderful holiday season! Thank you for your patronage this past year and we look forward to serving you in 2018. Look for exciting things to come with the beginning of RENU projects!
Special holiday break swims: Tuesday, Dec. 26 and 28 from 1-4 p.m. We will offer open swim on Sunday, Dec. 31 and Monday, Jan. 1 from 1-3 p.m.
Winter/Spring Activities Brochure will be distributed in The Journal on Dec. 31. Please watch your papers for this publication. Registration for Winter/Spring activities will open Jan. 8 at 10 a.m.
New Ulm NU-You Community-Wide Weight Loss Challenge – “Going the Distance” is a 60-day weight loss challenge provides resources needed to meet and surpass fitness goals. This program is for anyone and everyone! You can join as an individual or as a team. This program will provide access to the Fitness Centers and weekly group exercise classes offered at the Rec Center, Hy-Vee Shopping Tours and Nutrition information and presentations from local experts in health and wellness. The program kicks off with a wellness fair and weigh-in Jan. 11 and final weigh-out on March 12. Deadline to register is Jan. 9. Open Pickleball Saturdays in December through March from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Please note: there will NOT be pickleball Feb. 10 or 17 because of scheduled basketball tournaments.
Short Track Tuesdays and Saturdays There will be a “short track only” on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-10 a.m. from now through March.
Open Broomball Wednesdays through February 28 from 7:15-8:45 p.m. at the Civic Center. This non-checking league is open to men and women, ages 18 and older. Players may divide into teams for a fun, competitive and challenging game play. Helmets, broomball stick/broom and shoes are required. Shin guards and gloves are recommended. Park and Rec has limited equipment available on a first come-first serve basis.
Rock on Ice Friday nights at the Civic Center from 7-9 p.m. Please note: starting time is subject to change slightly to accommodate hockey tournament games and other rentals. Be sure to check the schedule at www.ci.new-ulm.mn.us
Harman Park Skating Rinks are in the process of being flooded for outdoor ice skating and hockey. Stay tuned for updates and announcements regarding warming house opening date. If the rinks are flooded and ready, the warming house will be closed on Jan. 1 from 12:30-4 p.m. for a private party.
Shopping Ideas – Still looking for the perfect gift for that “hard to buy for” person? Why not give them the gift of healthy activity! We have gift certificates available in any denomination that can be used toward admissions, memberships, punch cards and Park and Rec. activities (swimming lessons, recreational athletics, crafts, etc.) Inquire at the Recreation Center!
