MnDOT hosts mowing/haying listening session Nov. 14

MANKATO — The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) hosts a listening session on mowing and haying on state right of way at South Central College Conference Center, Nov. 14.

Public comment is sought from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. regarding mowing, haying and other rights of way along state roadways. Officials from MnDOT will be on hand at the event.

“We need the public’s help to identify the best way to follow,” said MnDOT Assistant Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger.

Late last year, MnDOT reminded the public that permits are required to mow and hay in state right of way and that a new permit form was available. Due to public concern, the 2017 Legislature imposed a moratorium on mowing and hay permit on state rights of way.

Legislators directed MnDODT to do public outreach and develop a legislative proposed on state right of way mowing and haying.
