Concert in German Park Monday, August 14. Entertainment by DD & Rosco starting at 7 p.m.

Wow! Zone in Mankato Trip available to age 8 and up. Friday, August 11. Bowl, play mini golf and laser tag for a fun-filled afternoon! Van departs from the Rec Center at 12 and returns at 4 p.m. Fee: $19 Resident or $20.90 Non-resident. Transportation and admission included in price.

Autumn Park and Rec Registration opens Monday, August 14 at 10 a.m. The brochure is available online or at the Rec. Center. Be sure to check out the offerings!

Get to Know Nature: Bird Ecology- Discover the different bird species, parts of a bird, why they are important and how they get along in nature. Tuesday, August 15 from 1-2 p.m. at Flandrau State Park (Meet at the playground next to the swimming pond.) Fee: $5 Resident or $5.50 Non-resident.

Summer Day of Play Thursday, August 17 at German Park starting at 5:30 p.m. Variety of activities in a fun, festive atmosphere! This event is FREE and open to the public, thanks to the generous donations of our local businesses and service organizations. The evening will be capped off by an outdoor Movie: Secret Life of Pets at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Indoor Pool and Locker Rooms will be closed for annual maintenance Monday, August 28 through Friday, September 8. Members who rent lockers need to remove their locks and personal belongings during this time and may take possession again on September 9. The Vogel Fieldhouse, racquetball courts and fitness facilities will be open usual or posted hours during this time.

Co-Rec Adult Fall Softball League will run from the first week in September to Mid-October. League fee is $90 per team. Register at the Recreation Center or call 507-359-8343.

Weight Lifting for Women is a six-week program designed to familiarize women with our Fitness room, exercise equipment and machines. It also gives participants the skills needed to plan their own weight room workouts. Designed for those who would like guidance in the use of machines and dumbbells but may not want the commitment of a private trainer.

NETA and Park and Rec. will be offering a Group Exercise Certification Class on Saturday, September 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. where potential and current fitness instructors will learn basic academic and practical application of teaching group exercise. No college, science or teaching background is required. This workshop registration includes a full-day review, written exam and 2-year certification for fee of $299 (if registered before August 17). NETA and Park and Rec. will be offering H.I.I.T. IT With Yoga fitness class that is high intensity interval training that is fun, effective and challenging for all. Yoga is the practices of poses that combine deep, meditative breathing with slow strengthening movements which is incredibly healthy for your mind, body and spirit. Fusing these two seemingly different formats together is clearly a “win-win” approach for successful cardiovascular exercise improvement and overall performance. Workshop fee is $119. Adult Swim Lessons will be offered Tuesdays, September 19, 26, October 3, 10 and 17 from 5:15-5:55 p.m. Class will help gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes and teach skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water and be able to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency.

Hermann Swim Club for ages 8-17 Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30 p.m. September 26-November 16. This is a recreational swim club that focuses on training swimmers and improving their swim strokes, build muscle, speed, strength and improve endurance. Participants must have passed Level 4 Swim Lessons and be at least 8 years old. Fee: $37 Resident or $40.70/non-resident.

Hermann 5k Run/Walk Saturday, Oct. 14. This is the 9th year of New Ulm’s most unique 5K and again this year will be a Hermann Tot Trot starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5k Run/Walk starting at 9:00 a.m. Register by going to the city website at www.ci.new-ulm.mn.us.

Outdoor Wading Pools are closing on August 20 at 6:30 p.m.
