New Ulm Middle School presented Presidential Phusical Fitness Awards to students in grades 5-8 pictured above. The Presidential Physical Fitness Award is awarded to students in grades 5-8. Every student in school is tested in five areas which are; Mile Run, Sit and Reach, Pull-ups/Flexed Arm Hang, Shuttle Run, and Sit Ups. Each person who gets the Presidential Award has to score in the 85th percentile or above in all five areas of the national average, if they miss one they don’t get the award. Students are tested in the Fall and in the Spring to see what improvement they have made. New Ulm Middle School saw a 17 percent average improvement across all tested areas, including a average time of 2 minutes, 48 seconds dropped per student in the Mile Run
