Breakfast with Santa

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Sertoma Club is sponsoring “Breakfast with Santa” this Sunday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity.  Pancakes, sausages, apple sauce, milk and coffee will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Santa will be on hand to visit with children, young and old.  Advanced tickets are available at Cashwise, Hy-Vee, Chamber or any Sertoma member for $6.  Tickets at the door are $7.50 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.  Proceeds benefit Santa’s Closet.

Early Childhood Screening

NEW ULM — Early Childhood Screening is scheduled for this Monday  During screening children will participate in an evaluation of speech, language, fine and gross motor skills, behavioral, social and emotional development, hearing and vision, height and weight measurement, immunization recording, and a parental question and answer period. Early Childhood Screenings are required for entrance into Head Start, Eagles Preschool, and kindergarten. Screenings are scheduled for December 5, January 23, February 13, and March 13. Please call our ECFE Office 233.8300 to schedule an appointment. We will not be able to accommodate walk-ins.

Humane Society Bake Sale

NEW ULM — The Brown County Humane Society will hold its annual Christmas Bake and Craft Sale on Saturday, Dec. 10.  The sale will be held at Oak Hills Living Center, 1314 8th North Street in New Ulm, and will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

This is a great opportunity to get your baked goods and gift items for the Christmas holiday.

Since the Brown County Humane Society is an all-volunteer organization, 100 percent of the funds raised will go to direct support of the pets at the shelter.

Both baked good and craft item donations should be brought to the shelter at 1301 South Valley on Friday, Dec. 9, from 8 to 11 a.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m.

ECFE Bedtime Stories

NEW ULM — ECFE and the New Ulm Public Library will host story time on Wednesday, December 14 from 6:00-7:00pm. Each session will include stories, simple activities, and a free book for each child courtesy of an anonymous donor in our community. Bedtime stories will be held at the New Ulm Public Library and is a Free family event.

ECFE Family Gym Night

NEW ULM — Get your winter wiggles out this Friday. Join in the fun bouncing, scooting, riding, jumping, and playing. ECFE Family Gym Night will be Friday from 6:00-7:00pm at the Washington Learning Center. Family Gym Night is geared toward children ages 1-5 and is a Free family event.

Holiday open house at Cow Collectors

‘Moo-seum’ Sunday,

BERNADOTTE — The 18th annual Holiday Open House will be held this Sunday at Ruth Klossner’s Cow Collector’s “Moo-seum” in Bernadotte (rural Lafayette, Minn.). Hours are 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The public is invited. There is no admission charge.

Milk and cookies will be served.

The Moo-seum is home to more than 16,800 cow items, the Guinness World Record collection of cow-related items. All types of cow items are on display–creamers, sugars, salt and peppers, cookie jars, figurines, wood carvings, wall hangings, toys, games, clothes, books, candles, Christmas ornaments, and much, much more.

The Moo-seum is located at 34085 515th Avenue, rural Lafayette, in the village of Bernadotte. From Lafayette, go four-and-a-half miles east on Nicollet County #1 (350th Street), then one mile north on Nicollet County 10 (515th Avenue). Pro Kindship night at McDonald’s

NEW ULM — McDonald’s in New Ulm is holding a Christmas Family Fun Night on Dec. 7,  for Pro Kinship for Kids.

From 4 to 7 p.m., 15 percent of all sale will go to support Pro Kinship programming for Brown County Youth. There will be a special appearance by Santa Claus, so bring  cameras to get a picture taken with the Jolly Guy himself.  Any one can have their picture taken with Santa from 5 to 7 p.m. and have them for their Christmas Cards or events.

Pro Kinship for Kids will also be running games, doing Christmas crafts and have face painting available.  Pro Kinship will have staff on hand  to answer questions on being involved with the program as a mentor for a kid who needs you or getting your child into the program.

New Ulm Area Community Education

NEW ULM — AARP 8 hour Smart Driver Safety Course is being offered December 7th and 8th from 5:30-9:30pm. Class will meet in Room #103 at Washington Learning Center, enter door #1. Fee is $22

A four hour Refresher Course is being offered on Wednesday December 7th from 12:00-4:00pm in Room #103 at Washington Learning Center, enter door #1 Fee is $22

Bing in St. George

ST. GEORGE — The Catholic United Financial of St. George is sponsoring a “Holiday Prize Bingo” at 1:30 p.m. Sunday,  Dec. 4 at the St. George parish center. Prizes for the bingo will be holiday articles and treats. Desserts, Cookies, and Coffee will be available following the bingo. It will be a fun activity for the entire family. This is a matching grant for education fundraiser, the Catholic United Financial will match 50 percent on a graduated scale to the maximum of $1000.

St. Nick Storytime and Craft at the

Library

New Ulm Public Library will host a St. Nikolaus storytime and craft program this Saturday at 10 a.m. Learn about the tradition of St. Nick, then make your very own paper shoe that we’ll stuff with goodies, just like they do in Germany.

This free program is ideal for preschoolers through age 8, but children of all ages, parents, and caregivers are welcome. Call 507-359-8336 for more information.
