Hanska Library
Hanska no longer has any school so our library is essential to our children and community.
Our library has made several moves and now is in The Hanska Community Center. This means that every time the site is in use we need to move all our heavy book shelves, on wheels, into the back patron computer room.
With this in mind our city purchased a building which can be a permanent site. This will take renovation before we can move.
With this in mind and the fact that the majority of our children/adults employed out of home attend school, & work in New Ulm, we also purchase most of our groceries in New Dim, have doctors, dentists, optical care, lawyer, car maintenance & repair in new Ulm, I wrote to the businesses in New Ulm to see if we could get a possible one time donation to assist in this project. (And, yes, I’ll admit when it comes to funding for the library I have no shame in asking).
I’d like to thank the businesses who responded, special thanks to Windings, Inc. the first to respond, Firmenich, Inc. for your unique idea to help us, Dick Kimmel-Pamela Longinte for fund raising concert, & Molly and Sonny Boy for sharing your musical talent in a fund raising for us. This is all much appreciated.
We are busy writing grants as well as setting up more fund raisers.
We will let you know when we are able to move.
Thanks again to all who supported us.
