Winona State University announces the Dean’s List for Fall Semester 2016. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must be an undergraduate enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours for a grade) and achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

Area students who qualified for the list include:

Nathan Berg, Emily Bertrang, Alexa Diersen, Robin Kolstad, Courtney Risen, Sarah Stelljes, all of New Ulm

Emily Rutscher and Bethany Seifert, Sleepy Eye

Joeli Arnoldi, Mariah Hoyt and Jennifer Thoreson, Springfield

Katelyn Seehafer, Winthrop

South Dakota State University’s Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi initiated 44 eligible juniors, seniors and graduate students to its membership in December in the University Student Union’s Campanile Room on campus. Eligibility is based on class standing.

The initiates include Mallory Ann Malecek, New Ulm, who is studying in the college of Agriculture and Biological Sciences.

Juniors in the upper 5 percent and seniors in the upper 10 percent of their class are invited to join. Graduate students with a 4.0 GPA are eligible to be initiated. In addition, 41 sophomores and juniors with 4.0 GPAs were recognized as outstanding scholars. These individuals are on the academic trajectory to be invited into Phi Kappa Phi in the very near future. Two students from the area on that list are Lindsay Mary Simon, Sleepy Eye, college of Education and Human Sciences, and Heidi Ann Veenstra, Springfield, college of Nursing.

The Fall Semester Dean’s List at Gustavus Adolphus College has been released. The list comprises students who have earned a 3.7 grade point average (based on a scale in which 4.0 = A) or higher for the semester ending in December 2016.
